Welcome to The Blue Shell Gifts & Decor and Savvie’s Blue Shell Boutique — two coastal-inspired shops located in the charming waterfront town of Solomons where community, creativity, and coastal living come together.

My name is Vickie Kite Milburn, and for more than 25 years I was both a mortgage loan officer and the co-founder and publisher of Southern Maryland This Is Living, a regional lifestyle magazine that celebrated the people, businesses, events, and beauty of Southern Maryland. Through those experiences, I built lifelong friendships and a deep love for supporting local businesses and our community.

After retiring from the mortgage industry, my sister Jackie — owner of Jacqueline Morgan Day Spa — encouraged me to open a small gift shop inside her spa. What began as a tiny boutique space quickly grew into something much more than I ever imagined.

In November 2021, The Blue Shell Gifts & Decor was born.

From the beginning, I wanted the shop to feel welcoming, uplifting, and full of treasures you wouldn’t find everywhere else. Today, The Blue Shell features a thoughtfully curated collection of jewelry, self-care products, candles, soaps and lotions, note cards and greeting cards, fashion accessories, coastal décor, holiday décor, seasonal treasures, and unique gifts inspired by coastal living and life along the Chesapeake Bay.

As the shop continued to grow, so did the vision.

When the opportunity came along to expand into a larger space, I knew it was the right next step. I dreamed of creating not only another beautiful shopping experience, but also a place where people could gather, connect, attend events, enjoy workshops, and experience even more coastal-inspired fashion and décor in a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

That dream became Savvie’s Blue Shell Boutique — a space inspired by the idea of being Coastal, Cozy & Chic.

While the two shops share a similar coastal style and welcoming atmosphere, each offers its own unique shopping experience and carefully curated merchandise. There is a small overlap between the stores — especially with popular Solomons sweatshirts and local favorites — but each shop has its own personality and product mix.

Savvie’s Blue Shell Boutique was created to expand into more fashion, coastal lifestyle pieces, entertaining, gourmet treats, workshops, and community gatherings. The larger space allows us to host special events, fashion gatherings, and seasonal experiences while continuing to offer unique apparel, accessories, and home décor inspired by the beauty of waterfront living. Fresh flowers will also be arriving soon as we continue growing and expanding the boutique experience.

Only a carefully selected portion of the merchandise from our shops is currently available online. Because many of our items are unique, seasonal, handmade, or available in limited quantities, our website features a curated collection of favorites from both stores, with new arrivals added regularly.
